The Theatrical in Fort Worth

The Beer HouseBack in NYC, I already miss Fort Worth.  The experience of directing the reading of The Mystery of Irma Vep was great.  It was wonderful to work with Dan, Jay and Sarah (who added great theatrical moments during the reading–if you weren’t there, ask her about “Look up”).  And it was wonderful to partake in the other theatrical aspects of Fort Worth as well…

  • The Ron Mueck exhibit at the Modern (pictured here, an amazing theatrical experience when one shares a room with these “people”)
  • The Flying Saucer Beer Fest
  • Talking to the “Managing your performance career” class at TCU
  • The new friends we made at PR’s
  • The Beer House (also pictured here, it’s a home decorated with empty beer cans, mostly Milwawkee’s Best…)

Ron Mueck’s Big Man

David A. Miller, Amphibian Company Member and director of last year’s Below the Belt, is the Guest Amphiblogger for October.  He wishes that he had a Beer House.

Note to self: Don’t eat for a week prior to visiting Amphibian hosts… the Fieldings’ kitchen is better than most New York restaurants.

Note to self: Don’t eat before performing with Jay… you can count on him to HAM things up.

Note to self: Don’t eat before visiting a Shiner Bock town… for obvious reasons.

Note to self: Don’t eat at that famous Mexican restaurant… just go for the pretty flowers.

Note to self: Don’t eat before going to an Amphibian gathering where Mango Margaritas are served… you’ll want to save room for more of them!

Note to self: Visit again soon.

What a great trip! AND great to be back in my home state! Thank you Amphibian for a wonderful experience. And thank you, Dan, for not eating before our performance as I brought the ham and you brought the cheese.

I laughed really hard during Monday’s night performance of The Mystery of Irma Vep. I love how the Cowboys’ game kept being interjected. Kudos to one and all!

David, if you like the beer house then you should also try out the beer barn: On Vickery
there is a fine establishment called the Eskimo Hut, a drive-thru beer barn. Truly part of
    the Fort Worth experience.

I’m so excited that, while we started trying to talk about theatre, we’ve moved on to more important subjects….like beer. I heart Amphibian for this reason.
